Sinkhole reappears on Lincoln Street in Palermo: workers repairing it.
Workers back in action on via Lincoln in Palermo, to repair the pothole located near the Botanical Garden. It had reappeared yesterday, June 4, in the section where an intervention had already been carried out on May 19. The road surface was again uneven and the pothole had been cordoned off: a situation that had also caused significant traffic delays. There were also evident indentations and cracks, inevitably dangerous for vehicle traffic. The first repair, carried out by the Municipality after residents’ reports, had therefore lasted a short time: after just fifteen days, the problem reappeared.
Today, June 5, the workers are on site and residents hope for a definitive intervention. The conditions of the road surface on via Lincoln, the long road that leads from the central station to the Foro Italico, are similar to those of many other streets in the Sicilian capital, where the Municipality has started maintenance operations.
In these days, the teams are carrying out a series of interventions in various areas of the city, especially where the situation is particularly risky. Works have been completed on the road surface in Corso Calatafimi, Piazza Indipendenza, Via Ernesto Basile, Viale Regione Siciliana (at the height of Via Pitrè), and other arteries of the fourth district.
A problem once again in the spotlight after the tragic death of Samuele Fuschi on Viale Regione Siciliana. The 38-year-old man and father of four children reportedly lost control of his scooter due to the sinkhole that opened on the asphalt, in the section between the Bonagia bridge and the former roundabout of Via Oreto.
