There are currently eighteen wildfires raging in Sicily. The forest corps of the Sicilian Region and the firefighters are engaged in extinguishing fires that are destroying hectares of woodland and Mediterranean scrub. These past few days, the flames have erupted in Enna in the area of Pietraperzia, in Piazza Armerina in the area of Critti, in Catania in the area of Licodia Eubea, in Castiglione di Sicilia in the area of Cipollate, in Randazzo in the area of Scimonetta, and in Nicolosi in the Monte Arso area. Fires have also occurred in Agrigento in the area of Menfi, in Niscemi in the area of Case Redali, and in Mazzarino in the area of San Cono Sottano. In addition, there have been flames in Ragusa in the Agate area, in Vittoria near the hospital, in Syracuse in the Noto area, and in Trapani in the main city area, as well as in Salaparuta and Salemi in the Ardigna area. Finally, there have also been interventions in the Messina area in Venetico, in the Palermo area following the fire in Misilmeri, another fire in Belmonte Mezzagno in the Portella di Palermo area, and ongoing cleanup operations on Monte Pellegrino.
