Sicilian young talent Morgana La Manna captivates audience on “Io Canto”

The young singer Morgana La Manna, 13 years old, from Gaggi, in the province of Messina, has won over the audience of the first episode of Io Canto Generation, a talent show on Mediaset hosted by Gerry Scotti. The show, broadcast on Canale 5, features twenty-four young contestants, aged between 10 and 14, competing in a singing competition under the artistic direction of Roberto Cenci. Morgana performed the song La Rondine by Mango, a complex piece that highlighted her vocal talents. Despite receiving a mediocre score from the judges, the young artist turned the tide of the competition thanks to the audience vote in the studio. The public’s approval was decisive, propelling her to the top of the evening’s rankings.

Morgana’s parents, proud of their daughter, commented with satisfaction on the result: “We are happy to accompany Morgana on this journey and for the opportunity she has been given. However, we want her to experience this as an opportunity to grow, but also as a game.” Morgana passed through numerous selections before reaching the stage of the program, and now faces this new challenge with serenity and determination.

Morgana La Manna is not new to the music world. For about four years, she has been studying singing at the Live Sound academy in Taormina under the guidance of Maestro Ivan Lo Giudice, who is proud of the progress of his young student. Lo Giudice, who also directs the Piccolo Coro Città di Taormina, recalled how Morgana has been part of the white voices choir for six years. This training path has helped develop her vocal abilities and prepare her for more ambitious challenges, such as Io Canto Generation.

The journey on Io Canto Generation has just begun and the competition remains open. Each week, the participants will continue to challenge each other in new performances for the next five episodes, in a competition full of emotions. Guiding the young contestants are six prominent figures in Italian music: Lola Ponce, Fausto Leali, Anna Tatangelo, Mietta, Cristina Scuccia, and Benedetta Caretta. The latter is Morgana’s team captain.

During the first episode, the jury consisted of well-known faces from television and music: Michelle Hunziker, Orietta Berti, Claudio Amendola, Fabio Rovazzi, and Iva Zanicchi. Their task was to evaluate the performances, but the public vote demonstrated how important the emotional appreciation of the viewers is. Morgana La Manna’s journey on the talent show is only beginning, but the enthusiasm generated during her first performance suggests a promising future
