Schifani urges Minister Schillaci to ensure Sicilians’ equal access to vaccine

The Region intends to proceed with the vaccination of newborns and elderly against severe respiratory diseases caused by the syncytial virus under the same conditions as the Italian regions not subject to the health deficit recovery plan. The President of the Region, Renato Schifani, reiterated this in a note sent to the Minister of Health. “I have already told Minister Schillaci – said the governor – that we want to ensure equal dignity for Sicilians compared to other Italian citizens, guaranteeing the same access to treatments as in other regions. This is a further sign of attention to the most vulnerable and exposed segments of the population to the effects of this virus, namely newborns and the elderly, allowing their families to obtain vaccines for free.” The note specifies that the Region will proceed with vaccinations according to the modalities and program already established in the regional immunization calendar, set by the decree of the regional Health assessor on June 11th.
