Scarpinato and Sicilian museum price hikes rejected by Schifani: “10 euros at Valley of the Temples, 22 at Milan Cathedral”

During a conference organized by Fratelli d’Italia in Caltanissetta, Francesco Scarpinato, regional councilor for Cultural Heritage, stated that the free entry to Sicilian museums and parks is guaranteed through specific measures that the rest of Italy is copying. He mentioned the 30% increase in ticket prices for regional museums, which was reversed by the President of the Region, Renato Schifani. Scarpinato announced that on the first Sunday of each month, all Sicilians will have free entrance to parks and museums in Sicily, and minors, disabled individuals, and their carers will also be exempt from payment. He argued that if Sicilians have to pay for entry everywhere else, why should tourists not have to pay in Sicily? He also highlighted the relatively low cost of visiting Sicilian attractions compared to other renowned sites in Italy, emphasizing the potential economic benefit for the region through increased tourist spending.
