PALERMO – “Our patroness will be even closer to Palermo”. Thus the archbishop of Palermo Corrado Lorefice during the presentation of the 397th Festino di Santa Rosalia, at the Filangeri hall of the Archbishop’s Palace. The archbishop will fly over the city with the relic of Santuzza and bless the people of Palermo on board an Army helicopter at 5.30 pm on 15 July.
The anniversary will also be marked by the pandemic this year and there will be no parade of the triumphal chariot of the patron saint of the city along the Cassaro. The cart, restored with 24 thousand euros on the night of 9 July, will be moved from Piazza del Parliament to the Quattro Canti. He will remain here until July 15th.
Above the wagon an aerial power cable will allow the lighting of the lights, which will also be lit along the entire Cassaro (from Porta Nuova to Porta Felice) and which will cross Piazza Monte di Pietà, as early as 10 July. In all, there will be 65,000 LED bulbs. The cost is 16 thousand euros.
