Rescued migrant boats with 87 people arrive in Lampedusa

Between late evening yesterday (October 18) and dawn today, a total of 87 migrants arrived in Lampedusa. Two boats, 10 and 8 meters long, departed from Zuara in Libya and were rescued by the coast guard’s patrol boats. On board, there were 50 Syrians (including a minor), Egyptians, Ethiopians, and 37 Gambians. The two groups were taken to the contrada Imbriacola hotspot, where there were only 49 guests yesterday evening. Now the total number of people present has risen to 136.
