Red shoes in Ruggero Settimo square in Palermo, Udicon alongside women.

«No to violence» is the initiative that took place this morning in Piazza Ruggero Settimo in Palermo, organized by Udicon provincial and zonal of Palermo together with the workshop Una donna Palermo on the day of awareness in memory of the victims of violence. «Violence against women is not just a women’s problem – said Guido De Amicis, provincial representative of Udicon Palermo – it is a problem of society. Let’s commit to breaking the silence and creating a world where every woman can live free and safe. Today is not just a day, but the beginning of a constant commitment to end violence against women. Every woman deserves respect, dignity, and security. Let’s unite to raise awareness and promote a cultural change that puts an end to all forms of abuse». This morning in the square, the red shoes, which have become a symbol of the fight against violence against women, filled Piazza Ruggero Settimo, and then an artistic flash mob: a dance performance curated by choreographer Irene Librera Prestigiacomo. «We need to reflect and appeal to consciences – said Maria Pittaresi, zonal representative of Udicon Palermo – but also urge institutions to work even more with effective interventions to protect and secure human life. Let’s say enough to violence».
