Red alert continues for wildfires in Sicily, temperatures still rising

The regional civil protection has issued a red alert for fire tomorrow for the provinces of Trapani, Palermo, Messina, and Catania. An orange alert for the rest of the provinces on the island. A significant increase in temperatures is expected, with temperatures possibly exceeding 35 degrees. According to 3bmeteo, a high-pressure system is covering the region, ensuring stable and sunny weather. Specifically, the Tyrrhenian coast and inland areas will have mostly clear or slightly cloudy skies throughout the day, with some cloudiness in the evening. The Ionian coast will have mostly clear or slightly cloudy skies all day, while the southern coast will have partly cloudy skies, with greater variability in the central hours of the day. Tomorrow, Friday 20, there will still be warm currents from North Africa, drawn in by the deepening of a depression over the western Mediterranean, leading to a significant rise in temperature, up to 33-35 degrees in Palermo and Messina. Winds from the southeast and south will dominate until Friday, with gusts reaching 60-80 km/h in the mountains and valleys. Following that, between Saturday and the early hours of Sunday, the second disturbance of October will bring locally heavy rain and thunderstorms, starting in Campania and the central-west Calabria, with the northern-central part of Sicily also affected in the first part of Saturday.
