After the arrival of 357 migrants on 10 boats rescued by the port authority and coast guard off the coast of Lampedusa, the island experienced 45 landings in 24 hours, the highest number to date. In total, 1,589 people arrived, bringing the total at the hotspot to 2,882. The migrants on the latest 10 boats came from Tunisia and Libya, and included nationals from various countries. The police are currently transferring 101 migrants, who will be boarded onto the Galaxy ferry and taken to Porto Empedocle tomorrow morning. The prefecture of Agrigento has already arranged for the relocation of another 750 guests at the reception facility.
