Savings books and postal savings bonds are confirmed among the forms of savings most loved by the citizens of the province of Palermo.
Throughout the province there are over 860,000 active savings books and about 654,000 postal savings bonds subscribed.
On average, almost all the inhabitants of the province have a savings account and one out of two citizens has an interest-bearing postal voucher.

Savings books and postal savings bonds are products guaranteed by the Italian State and are free of costs, except for tax charges; the vouchers are also exempt from inheritance tax and subject to a subsidized taxation of 12.50% on interest.
