Porta Nuova mafia command controlled drug trafficking squares: 4 arrested

This morning (October 11), the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Palermo executed 4 precautionary measures in prison against four people investigated, for various crimes including mafia association, drug trafficking association, production, trafficking, and possession of drugs, extortion, personal injuries, and illegal possession of firearms.

The provision, issued by the judge of Palermo at the request of the DDA, directed by the prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia, is the result of an investigation conducted by the Carabinieri between February 2022 and December 2023, which fully confirmed the statements of some collaborators of justice on the affairs of the mafia district of Porta Nuova. The suspects were accused of being part of an association that controlled drug dealing areas, often resorting to acts of violence and intimidation, even using weapons, imposing on those who operated in retail drug trafficking, the purchase of the drug, mainly cocaine, at a predetermined cost, higher than the market price, as well as the payment of a sum on the sales revenues.

Also, an assault on a man in the Zisa district, which took place in broad daylight and with the face uncovered, was reconstructed, as well as the heavy threats made to some drug dealers, including firing a gunshot at a wall as an intimidating act, to impose the rules of the drug trafficking association. Quantities of drugs imposed on drug dealing areas were seized.
