Polluted water in Messina, free home analyses until Friday, June 30th
#Messina
Starting today until the day after tomorrow, June 30th, residents of Messina can request analysis of water samples taken from their internal household taps. The local government and Amam are working together to support residents who have been experiencing water pollution issues due to traces of diesel fuel in the water. The analysis is reserved for citizens in areas where the drinking water ban is still in effect. Samples can be collected after 2 PM, and technicians will also check the quality and condition of the water systems. Residents can collect at least 1 liter of water in a glass bottle and deliver it to Amam’s mobile laboratory from 10 AM to 4:30 PM in Piazza Masuccio. The President of Amam, Loredana Bonasera, states that there has been a significant turnout of citizens, indicating that the service provided by Amam and the local government is effective and serves as a presence to provide information and clarify doubts for the residents. Mayor Federico Basile highlights the active continuation of safety measures and assistance for users affected by water issues following the security intervention and subsequent restoration of water distribution. The Mayor once again urges all building owners and condominium administrators in the entire affected area to clean and sanitize their drinking water storage tanks, both condominium and private, before going to the mobile laboratory for water analysis.
