Plan to close 17 schools in Palermo and province

Seventeen schools in Palermo and the surrounding area could disappear starting from September of next year, if the decision of the provincial school council is approved in a meeting on November 20th. This is part of a plan to downsize the institutions in an effort to reduce spending in the education sector. This would mean fewer school administrators and support staff, leading to the closure of established and historically significant educational institutions that have been important resources for their communities.
