The use of mobile phones in the voting booth has been reported, in isolated cases, for the European elections in Catania. In one case, a man was caught because his smartphone rang while he was in the booth, but investigations on the phone revealed that it had not been used to take photos and it was just a mistake. In a school, a voter tore up the ballot paper, but it was not a protest: he had simply made a mistake in expressing his preference. He was also reported for this.
