Paternò bids farewell to Riccardo, who died at seventeen: “Forever in our hearts”

Paternò is in mourning and the church was full for the last goodbye to Riccardo Gorgone, the seventeen-year-old boy who lost his life in a car accident on Wednesday, November 15. The city stopped to say goodbye to the boy loved by everyone, the community is incredulous and in shock after the crash with a car that left him no chance. At the funeral, celebrated in the church of the Holy Spirit, in addition to the parents and relatives, many classmates from the Gioacchino Russo Technical Economic Institute and the teachers were present, as well as childhood friends and many peers who had known him in Paternò. Flags were at half-mast in the institutional buildings and the shutters of the commercial activities were lowered during the ceremony. The mayor of Paternò, Nino Naso, expressed the city’s sorrow and said that the whole city gathers in silence and prayer, remembering a young son who left too soon. The school attended by the young man also expressed deep condolences to his family, friends, and classmates, saying that Riccardo, with a good soul, will remain forever in their hearts. On the day of the accident, the boy, who would have turned eighteen on November 25, was on his way to school on his scooter, as he did every morning. His classmates were waiting for him, but then the sad news threw everyone into deep distress. The injuries from the violent impact on the provincial road were very serious and extinguished all hope shortly after arriving at the hospital, where the emergency services had urgently transported him.
