Partinico, anger and pain at the funeral of the woman killed by her husband in Castelvetrano

The funeral of Maria Amatuzzo, the 29-year-old girl killed in Castelvetrano by her husband Ernesto Favara, was celebrated in Partinico aged 63. The funeral took place in the church of Maria Santissima degli agonizzanti. The victim’s sister, before and after her service, launched arrows at the man who killed her family member. Her words of hate and despair, tears that marked the celebration. Above the coffin wreaths of flowers and a photo of the young woman. Waiting for the coffin outside the church are friends, relatives and neighbors of Maria Amatuzzo.

In addition to the tears, there was a long applause and pink balloons were launched into the sky. After which the coffin was transported to the Partinico cemetery where the body will be buried in these days. Her mother chose to bury her in the Partinico cemetery since she lives in this city with her partner. Maria Maria had lived in Partinico for a few years before marrying the man who killed her. Today in Castelvetrano, in the Trapani area, city mourning was proclaimed by the mayor on the very day of her funeral. The woman was murdered with twelve stab wounds in the abdomen by her husband. The carabinieri arrested the man found with a large kitchen knife still in his hand.
A mass in memory of the woman will be celebrated tomorrow at 18, in the parish of the Sacred Heart of Maria di Marinella di Selinunte. It will be celebrated by Don Gaspare Tortorici. The initiative came from the mayor Enzo Alfano. “The Holy Mass is meant to be a moment of prayer in the Selinunte community where the lady lived – he said – the occasion is meant to be a Christian but also a civic reflection on what happened”.
