A girl on the tracks rescued by the police, 4 suspects, 3,231 people checked, 48 trains and 26 vehicles inspected, 26 vehicles and 317 patrols engaged in surveillance services at the station, on board the train and along the railway line: this is the balance of the main control activities in the week from 28 March to April 3, 2022 by the railway police throughout Sicily.
4 people tracked down by Polfer agents including 3 non-EU minors, surprised at the Agrigento station while trying to get on a train to reach Palermo.

The young people, after the investigations by the police, were entrusted to the community from which they had left.
The Polfer operators of Agrigento have tracked down a girl who was walking dangerously along the railway line near Trabia. The policemen, engaged in a patrol service on board the train in the Agrigento-Palermo section, rescued the young woman who, at the time of the passage of the convoy, had been seen along the railway line inside a tunnel.

The railway staff stopped the train and the agents made her get on board and then entrusted her to the care of the medical staff who had to intervene at the central Palermo station.
The investigations revealed that the girl, in an evident state of confusion, had moved away from a hospital in the capital where she was being treated for her mental conditions.
Last week the III Operation “Safe Stations” also took place during which the agents, equipped with metal detectors and palmtops and with the aid of dog units, carried out extraordinary checks in the major railway stations of the region, on trains and in a left-luggage office, in order to increase the level of safety in the railway sector.
