In the civil registry offices, in Piazza Giulio Cesare in Palermo, the two elevators have been out of order for weeks and access is blocked with chairs from the waiting room. The staff and users are forced to walk up and down to handle the procedures, with all the difficulties involved for the elderly or disabled people.
“It never rains but it pours – says Antonio Nicolao, vice president of the first district – in addition to the serious state of neglect in which the parking lot in front of the offices is, a den for drug addicts, now the critical issues also extend to the offices. For weeks we have been waiting for them to be repaired and restored to working order for users and officials. As we have been waiting for measures on the parking lot, which have never arrived.”
