About fifty screenings of films in competition and out of competition, special tributes to Pier Paolo Pasolini and Letizia Battaglia, a focus on climate and environment.
This is the program of the Sole Luna doc film festival chaired by Lucia Gotti Venturato.
Edition number 17 of the international documentary review will be hosted by the Steri monumental complex from 4 to 10 July.
A thread binds many documentaries scheduled starting from the opening event: “On the trail of the glaciers” a 13-year photographic and scientific project, conceived and created by photographer Fabiano Ventura to document the shocking effects of climate change.
There are eighteen documentaries in competition, including eight feature films: they tell stories, projects and visions on the relationship between man and nature.
Special events include tributes to the recently deceased photojournalist Letizia Battaglia, to Pier Paolo Pasolini whose 100th anniversary is celebrated, to director Vittorio De Seta on the eve of the centenary of his birth.
For the Palermo photographer, «La mia Battaglia» will be re-proposed, the documentary by Franco Maresco in which Letizia Battaglia told difficult pages of her life.
“The garbage strike” is the unpublished documentary by Pier Paolo Pasolini found in 2005 on the first strike of the garbage collectors in 1970.
A retrospective of the short films made between 1954 and 1959 in Sicily, Calabria and Sardinia will be proposed by Vittorio De Seta.
This year’s novelties also include the “Itineranze” project which puts six documentary festivals online: Bellaria Film Festival, IsReal, Sole Luna Doc Festival, PerSo Film Festival, FrontDoc, Festival dei Popoli.
«Itineranze» will be hosted by the International Puppet Museum «Antonio Pasqualino».
