Palermo, the last day of work arrives for the 205 operators of Almaviva

Tomorrow (31 December) will be the last day of work for the 205 operators who, from the Palermo office of Almaviva Contact, will answer the toll-free number 1500 of the Ministry of Health: in fact, from 31 December, the telephone lines of the service which offered information on Covid will be deactivated with the result that unemployed staff will be placed on layoffs from next year.

The dispute concerns about 500 people scattered throughout Italy between the Almaviva sites in the Sicilian capital, Catania, Rende, Naples and Milan. At the meeting in Rome on 7 December, the Ministry of Health advanced the hypothesis of extending the 1500 service by one year, transforming it into a public utility number to be dedicated to vaccination campaigns and health prevention, proposing to initially hire 160 operators to then fill the basin thanks to new orders: «No extension has been communicated», write the national secretariats of Slc Cgil, Fistel Cisl and Uilcom.
