Piero Sinatra, a 52-year-old construction entrepreneur, died in Palermo due to an accident with a scooter. He passed away two days after the fall on Leonardo da Vinci street at the Neuroreanimation department of Villa Sofia hospital. Unfortunately, his health condition was critical, as it was evident upon the arrival of the emergency ambulance. Sinatra was separated and a father of four children. The family has signed for organ donation, and the doctors at Villa Sofia have already initiated the procedures to fulfill his wishes.

Sinatra, a construction entrepreneur, fell off his scooter on Wednesday afternoon on Leonardo da Vinci street, near the intersection with Beato Angelico street, in front of a fruit seller. It was 6:30 pm. The details of the accident are still unclear: a vehicle may have cut him off, causing Sinatra to lose control of the scooter, possibly due to uneven road surfacing following previous asphalt work. The accident investigation officers have gathered all possible information to reconstruct the sequence of events. Sinatra, who lived in the area of Leonardo da Vinci street, was heading home when he fell, violently hitting his head on the ground.

Some witnesses called emergency services. His condition immediately appeared serious, requiring the ambulance staff to transport him to Villa Sofia hospital as a Code Red. The impact caused a trauma that was deemed irreversible, leading to the declaration of brain death yesterday afternoon.

Sinatra leaves behind four children: an 8-year-old girl and three boys aged 13, 16, and one who is of legal age and currently serving in the military. “Piero was a special person, wonderful. He lived for his work and his children,” says Patrizia, who, with her husband Salvo, was among Sinatra’s closest friends. “He was very affectionate and would go out of his way for his children and friends. He was always available.” The last time Patrizia and Salvo heard from him was on Tuesday, the day before the accident: “We were supposed to go boating on Saturday (today). We had planned to rent a dinghy at Isola delle Femmine to spend a day at the beach, one of his great passions. My husband Salvo also worked for his construction company. He was a person who gave his all, even in his work.”

The funeral will be held in Lercara Friddi, the hometown of the construction entrepreneur’s parents.
