Palermo races against time to use 28 million: from the pool to the light poles
The race is on at the Palermo City Council to allocate just over 28 million euros in investments by the end of the year. This surplus comes from the 2022 budget and will be distributed across various areas of spending as directed by Mayor Roberto Lagalla. Six million will go towards public buildings, including two million for schools, while 3.5 million is earmarked for a new swimming pool. One million will be used to replace old light posts, while 500 thousand will go towards maintaining fountains and basins. Another 1.5 million will be spent on air conditioning systems for municipal buildings, and there are allocations for sewer maintenance, equipment purchases, and urban redevelopment projects. Additionally, funds will be used for public transit, urban maintenance, and tree trimming.
