Palermo port ranks fourth in Italy for cruise passengers: expected to exceed one million visitors by 2024.

Palermo is the fourth largest port in Italy and Sicily is the third largest region in terms of cruise passengers. These are the findings of the latest edition of the Italian Cruise Watch report, presented at the Castello Aragonese in Taranto. In 2024, Palermo will join the exclusive club of ports with over one million cruise passengers, along with Civitavecchia, Naples, and Genoa. The number of cruise passengers in Palermo is expected to exceed 930,000 in 2023, compared to just over 570,000 in 2019. Sicily is the third region with 1.8 million cruise passengers, following Liguria and Lazio. This success is attributed to significant investments in infrastructure and a strategic vision. The port of Palermo recently inaugurated the new Trapezoidal Wharf with a €30 million investment. The blue economy in Sicily has seen double-digit growth in all sectors compared to previous years.
