Palermo, not convinced by double play experiment
One of the experiments that didn’t yield results in the first three months of the season for Palermo was the use of a double play in midfield. The combination of Stulac and Gomes proved to be ineffective both defensively and in setting up plays. They often relied on individual efforts rather than contributing to the team’s overall performance. Despite being included in the starting lineup on four occasions, injuries and tactical changes were often the reasons behind their selection. The imbalance in midfield was evident in games against Bari, Lecco, Brescia, and Cittadella, where the team struggled defensively and offensively. These issues will need to be addressed by coach Corini for future games.
