Palermo murder: hunt for killer with cameras and victim’s phone analysis

The investigation into the murder of Salvatore Di Salvo, a 69-year-old agricultural worker killed in Grisì, focuses on analyzing the surveillance cameras of shops and homes in the Borgetto area, where the pensioner lived. The Carabinieri hope to identify images that can help identify the vehicle used by the killer to reach the isolated and deserted area where the crime took place on Tuesday morning.
At the moment, the investigation remains open to any scenario, and the investigators, while following different leads, have not yet identified any suspects. It is presumed that the attacker knew Di Salvo’s daily routines well, as he chose to act in a remote location, far from prying eyes. The impression is that he knew where to strike without fear of being caught, waiting for him in open countryside.
The Carabinieri are also re-interviewing friends and family of the victim, trying to reconstruct the events leading up to the murder, searching for any conflicts or threats.
Di Salvo was described as a respected man dedicated to his family but the details of the attack suggest an execution. According to an initial reconstruction, the 69-year-old was trying to flee and take refuge, as suggested by the position in which his body was found.
The killer fired several shots from a rifle that hit the victim in the chest and abdomen. His vehicle was found almost completely hidden in a reed bed, while the body was discovered by his son.
Furthermore, investigators are examining Di Salvo’s phone, hoping that communications and messages may contain indications of recent threats or resentments. Of particular interest is his family relationship, considering that he was the brother of Nicolò Di Salvo, owner of the Quadrifoglio Group company in Partinico, under investigation for the workplace massacre in Casteldaccia in which five workers lost their lives.
