The employee was acquitted and the Municipality of Palermo will have to pay him 17,500 euros. The administrative employee of Coime, involved in a 2014 investigation for inflated salaries, had been suspended from service. The Municipality had recovered improperly paid sums from about a thousand employees. In 2016, the employee was acquitted due to the small amount of the improper salary increases. A recent labor court ruling condemned the Municipality to pay the employee for the suspension from service and lost wages. The City Council had to approve the payment as an off-budget debt.
