An opportune time for faith, today marginalized and attacked. He’s sure of it the archbishop of Palermo, Corrado Lorefice, who celebrated the solemn Pontifical of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in the Basilica of San Francesco D’Assisi: «Precisely because it is no longer taken for granted and socially transmitted, indeed marginalized, attacked, trivialized and persecuted – he affirmed during the homily – this time it can be the expression of a personal search and an adherence to grace transformed into a free, conscious and coherent response, a choice that innervates thought and life».
«Gives administrators loyalty to constitutional principles, honesty and detachment from personal or group interests, freedom from mafia interference, intelligence, planning ability and perseverance in solving the real problems of our people: home, work, bread, environment, right to study, health care, legality, infrastructures”, he said in the prayer for the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary . «Let us always seek justice and charity – she added – and faithfully walk the way that leads to the holy mountain of God, where you await us with Jesus».
Shortly afterwards, the celebrations of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception were held in the Cathedral presided over by Monsignor Paolo De Nicolò, former Regent of the Prefecture of the Papal Household, direct collaborator of St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI.
