Palermo, lawyers on a war footing: “No to the transfer of some judicial offices to via Orsini”

The Palermo lawyers say no to the transfer of the judicial offices located in the Eas building, the building annexed to the judicial citadel which until 2024 will be affected by restoration and safety works, in the building in via Orsini, which until recently some time ago it housed the Sicily Collection offices.

This morning, in front of the judicial offices, the council of the Palermo Bar Association, led by President Antonello Armetta, put in place a sit-in with over 200 lawyers. “We have learned that probably by the summer a considerable part of the judicial offices will be taken to via Orsini – says Armetta – The serious repercussions that will have on the city and on the internal sector of justice are evident”. The move, in fact, will involve offices very frequented by lawyers and citizens such as the work section, the civil executions section of the court and the notification office, now housed in the Eas building. “Hundreds of people every day – continues President Armetta – will be forced to shuttle between opposite points of Palermo with predictable and inevitable consequences starting from the chaos of hearings caused by concurrent commitments in the judicial citadel, a city more congested by traffic and inconvenience for lawyers, users and operators of justice “.

The lawyers ask to try to arrange in the office in via Orsini those offices that do not foresee an influx of users and lawyers. “We trust in the institutional dialogue with the president of the Court of Appeal and the president of the court – concludes Armetta – who must be acknowledged that they have always faced any critical issues in concert with the lawyer in order to achieve the common goal of maintaining judicial citadel of offices that provide access to the public. We also appeal to Minister Marta Cartabia ».
