Palermo ko with Venice, Corini: “We have some defects but the boys have a big heart”

The defeat against Venice for 0 to 1, concretely brings Palermo into the playout area of this Serie B 2022/2023 championship. The rosanero coach, Eugene Corinihe commented on the match in the post-match press conference.

“In the first half – said Corini – we did well, with several chances to score. In the second half we played and pushed, aware that Venice had a very high value. Every match has an important weight. We weren’t able to score points, we have to think about the single game and do our best before the break in December. I think the first few minutes however we got out of their pressure well, and we created non-optimized dangerous action. We only suffered in the last minutes of the first half”.

On the second half: “In the second half the match was even – added the Palermo coach -, the game was open and all the situations weren’t in our favor. Today I find it hard not to talk about the referees. Certainly in the final twenty minutes of the first Venice put us underneath. They’re a team that always did well in the first half and we knew they would play a level game. We were aware of the value of the opponent, and we suffered in the first half. In the second half, a balanced game, we played our football but not finalized. The championship is balanced and difficult for everyone”.

Awareness of one’s limits: “We are aware that we have flaws but the boys have shown that they have a big heart and they pushed. We deserved a draw. Valente worked on an extra twenty meters so that we could be more aggressive. Brunori is to be appreciated, he gave a lot to the club and showed up where he was supposed to and managed everything well. He is a great professional. I find it hard to talk about turning points, in the last two races he has lost.”
