Share So much fear, but fortunately no serious consequences for a ten-year-old girl from Palermo who was injured while she was making an excursion to the Zingaro reserve with her parents. The little girl slipped while walking along the coastal path near Cala Marinella and injured her right ankle, resulting in a suspected fracture. The baby’s father gave the alarm. Once the report was received, the Sicilian Alpine and Speleological Rescue activated the Air Force to minimize intervention times and risks. While two helicopter rescue technicians from the Alpine Rescue went by car to Castellammare del Golfo, an Air Force helicopter took off from Trapani Birgi airport, which took them to the sports field to land them a few minutes later at the accident site. Here the technicians of the Alpine Rescue first harnessed and hoisted on board with the winch the child, after having immobilized her leg, and then the mother (to accompany her, since the wound was a minor). The helicopter landed again at the sports field where a 118 ambulance was waiting for them. The carabinieri of Castellammare were also on site.
