Palermo, Father Arrupe Center hosts meeting on femicides and gender violence on October 12

The Pedro Arrupe political training center has organized a meeting on femicides and gender-based violence. One woman is killed every 3 or 4 days; 93 since the beginning of the year: these are the figures that depict the phenomenon of femicide in Italy.
These figures are feared to continue to grow. The institute has awarded a research grant to Alberto Piacentini, a young lawyer from Palermo who has studied the issue of family abuse, gender-based violence, and vulnerability for over a year.
“A complex issue that requires a multidisciplinary approach: legal, certainly, but also sociological, anthropological, cultural, educational, psychological,” say the promoters of the meeting. The results of this research will be presented on Saturday, October 12 at 9:30 am at the Arrupe Institute headquarters in via Franz Lehar, in Palermo.
“The initiative – say from the institute – which takes place within the Idea-Action research program, funded by the Tokyo Foundation, will also be an opportunity to discover what activities are being carried out so that our researcher can transform the results of his research into concrete action”.
