Palermo driver sentenced to 4 years for killing motorcyclist

Serafina Nuccio, 41 years old, has been sentenced to 4 years and 4 months in prison for vehicular manslaughter in a case where she ran over and killed 29-year-old Manfredi Saja while he was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle in Palermo. The judge also issued a fine of 10,000 euros to the victims’ families and revoked Nuccio’s driver’s license. Nuccio’s lawyer plans to appeal the decision, arguing that the punishment is too harsh given the circumstances of the case. The incident occurred in September 2020, and Saja was on track to graduate from medical school. Despite the tragedy, the university has decided to posthumously confer an honorary distinction on him.
