Even the fourth family to whom a confiscated house on Via Decollati in Palermo had been assigned has renounced taking possession of the dwelling. The apartment, which has become part of the City’s assets, was previously inhabited by the daughter of the boss Leonard Algeri, from whom it was taken following a judicial ruling. The first three families had renounced after receiving threats, as several relatives of the mafia boss live on the same street. “Now we are almost there,” says municipal councilor Fabrizio Ferrandelli, “the maintenance work is almost complete. The property is constantly monitored by law enforcement. We have already identified a fifth family willing to live in that home.”
