Palermo awarded contract for completing rail ring: 90 million euro project
Italian Rail Network (RFI), the lead company of the Infrastructures Division of the Fs Italiane Group, has awarded the contract for the design and construction of the second phase of the closure of the Palermo railway ring to a temporary consortium composed of D’Agostino Angelo Antonio Costruzioni Generali S.r.l. (lead company), Bonifica S.p.A. and Prometeoengineering.it S.r.l. The contract is worth over 90 million euros. The Government has appointed Christian Colaneri, RFI’s director of strategies and planning, as the extraordinary commissioner for the completion of the work. The project will only affect the urban fabric of Palermo and will include the construction of a new stop, the adaptation of an existing stop, and the connection with Notarbartolo station. The project aims to increase the capacity and accessibility of the railway, potentially enabling direct connections between the airport and the port of Palermo. An average of over 110 people will be employed daily for the project.
