The investigation activities aimed at identifying the economic and entrepreneurial resources attributable to members of the “Cosa Nostra” mafia organization, carried out by the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Palermo, had already led, respectively, in May 2018 and January 2021 to issue by the Prevention Measures Section of the Court of Palermo, which had accepted the requests of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, of a provision of confiscation of assets for a total value of approximately 530,000 euros borne by Epifanio Aiello, 56, and another provision of confiscation of assets for a total value of approximately 200,000 euros borne by Marcello Puccio, 43 years old.

With the measures the irrevocability of the confiscations was declared and the huge patrimony, attributable to “Cosa Nostra”, became definitively part of the patrimony of the State.

Epifanio Aiello, meant “Fanuzzo”, had been arrested in the operation called “Apocalypse” with the accusation of having been part of the mafia family of Palermo Partanna Mondello, in particular for having made available the companies in his availability, reporting a first degree sentence of 8 years and 8 months of imprisonment, confirmed in subsequent degrees of judgment.

In particular, the definitive confiscation order concerned the entire share capital, with the related set of corporate assets of the company “CA.VIN.DA SRL”, based in Palermo operating in the construction sector; 7 banking relationships; 2 vehicles.

Marcello Puccio, also arrested in the operation called “Apocalypse” and accused of having been part of the mafia family of Palermo San Lorenzo, in particular for having been a point of reference, within the aforementioned coterie, for the management of extortion and construction works, reporting a first-degree sentence of 8 years and 8 months of imprisonment, increased on appeal to 10 years of imprisonment, confirmed in the next level of judgment.

The definitive confiscation order concerned the following assets: share equal to 3/5 of a house located in Palermo, and 2 bank relationships.
