More than twenty years after its closure, the regional councilor for Sicilian cultural heritage and identity, Alberto Samon, together with the Director of the Cultural Heritage Department, Franco Fazio, Denise Gargano, manager of the General Affairs area, and Carlo Pastena , director of the Central Library of the Sicilian Region, the Leonardo Sciascia Library will reopen to the public on Monday 4 April at 11 am, inside the premises of the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage, in via delle Croci 8, in Palermo.
On the occasion of the reopening of the Hall, which presents a new and welcoming setting, a plaque will be discovered to remember Sebastiano Tusathe archaeologist and former councilor of cultural heritage, who tragically died in 2019.

The premises of the Library will be accessible to the public starting from Tuesday 5 April, for three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) from 9 to 13 with access from the main entrance of the Department of Cultural Heritage in via delle Croci n.
8 and in compliance with the provisions of the anti-Covid legislation.
Reopening a Library, offering the City of Palermo a space that had been closed for a long time – underlines the Regional Councilor for Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity, Alberto Samon – a gesture of great symbolic value.
It means giving back to the community a part of one’s memory in a place that offers the best conditions for research and study.
Thanks to the peculiarity of the volumes contained, the library offers Palermo and Sicily an important garrison dedicated to cultural heritage.

Created in the early 90s of the last century as a special section of the Central Library of the Sicilian Region Alberto Bombace, the library equipped with 11 comfortable reading stations in addition to the table for the room attendant who equipped with a computer through which the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), the Online Catalog of the Central Library of the Sicilian Region and the Catalog can be consulted computerized with the publications contained within the library itself.
The current collection consists of 5613 volumes.
