Palermo: 13-year-old takes own life, suspected victim of bullying

A 13-year-old student from Palermo, attending the Vittorio Emanuele Orlando middle school, took his own life at his home while his parents were out last Saturday. It is suspected that the boy was a victim of bullying, as he had been teased on multiple occasions. When paramedics arrived, the teenager was already dead. The school has suspended all activities for the day. Concerns about the boy being a victim of bullying have emerged from chats among students and parents, as he was also teased about his perceived sexual orientation. The carabinieri are currently conducting an investigation.
