Palermitan pizza chef in cardiac arrest saved by helicopter

A 44-year-old man working in a pizzeria in Ustica, Italy, suddenly fell ill and collapsed. The on-duty doctor immediately began performing CPR and called for emergency medical assistance. A helicopter with a resuscitation doctor on board was dispatched to the island. Thanks to the resuscitation efforts, the man’s heart started beating again. He was then transported to a hospital in Palermo, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. The outlook for his recovery is uncertain.
