Pachino, the “Silence” played with a bagpipe for the celebrations of the Landing in Sicily

#Siracusa
On the night of July 9-10, 1943, the Sicilian coast saw the largest deployment of Allied forces during Operation Husky. To commemorate the 80th anniversary, ceremonies were held in Funni i Varchi and Marzamemi, where Canadian troops landed. From Pachino, the first Wrap (Walking for Remembrance & Peace) began, following the Canadian march route of 1943. The initiative, started in 2013 by founder Steve Gregory, aims to honor those who fought and died. The museum at Le Ciminiere in Catania saw increased visitor numbers, prompting the exploration of new ways to promote the museum and focus on social history.
