Over 400 at-risk temporary workers, three mayors to the Agrigento prefecture

The mayors of Casteltermini, Gioacchino Nicastro, Favara, Antonio Palumbo, and Porto Empedocle, Calogero Martello, have met with the prefect of Agrigento, Filippo Romano, to discuss the situation of temporary workers serving in the three local entities whose contracts will expire at the end of the year. They have been addressing this issue for months, trying to find a solution for the 900 workers in Sicily, half of whom are in the province of Agrigento, who are awaiting stabilization. They are seeking a regional concession to extend the contracts while awaiting stabilization or a modification of current regulatory constraints from the government. The mayors are concerned about the potential impact on public order if 900 families are left without work from January 1. Prefect Romano has committed to representing this situation to the regional and national governments.
