Ortigia Siracusa closed the preliminary round of the Champions League water polo tournament with a 16-14 victory over Primorje. This win secured their participation in the Euro Cup as a seeded team. The Greek team Vouliagmeni also advanced to the next round with three victories, while Ortigia had two out of three. In a tough match against Primorje in Romania, Ortigia initially fell behind but managed to turn the game around with the help of goalkeeper Tempesti. The match was closely contested, with scores of 4-3, 3-3, 3-4, and 6-4, until Francesco Cassia scored five consecutive goals to secure a 16-14 victory for Ortigia.
