Oratorio della Carità di San Pietro – Palermo

Along the eastern lane of the kiosk of the Casa dei Crociferi is the Oratory of Charity of San Pietro, which housed the congregation of secular priests founded in 1736, with the aim of raising funds for the ransom of the religious kidnapped during pirate raids. The oratory is preceded by an anti-oratory and a rectangular room, both decorated with frescoes by Guglielmo Borremans. In the fresco of the vault of the anti-oratory is represented “The escape of St. Peter from prison”, while in the vault of the oratory is represented “The Glory of St. Peter”. In the sails there are the saints “Francis of Assisi”, “Acaio”, “Vincenzo de ‘Paoli” and “Paolino”. Today the Oratory is the seat of the Mutual Aid Society among the priests of the Charity of St. Peter.
