Open Arms detained as Salvini faces trial in Palermo

Matteo Salvini, who is facing charges of kidnapping and abuse of power, will attend the Open Arms trial in Palermo tomorrow. The NGO ship has been blocked for the second time in the port of Marina di Carrara for a 20-day administrative detention and fined thousands of euros for multiple sea rescues, violating a decree. The migrants on board have been distributed to various reception centers in different regions. Meanwhile, there have been fewer but ongoing boat arrivals in Sicily, with 4 landings in Lampedusa and one each in Pantelleria and Pozzallo. Senator and deputies from the Democratic Party in Tuscany have condemned the detention and fine, highlighting that the Open Arms crew mainly saved minors.
