Angelo Monaco, 66 years old, from Noto, who was identified by the magistrate of the Dda of Catania as the leader of the Trigila crime family in Noto, has been released. He has already served a 13-year prison sentence as part of the “Vecchia Maniera” trial, which focused on extortions and drug crimes carried out by the criminal organization in the Noto area. According to his lawyer Junio Celesti, Monaco is currently free due to the expiration of the legal terms, awaiting the final ruling from the Court of Cassation. Monaco has been involved in several mafia investigations, including one in 2017 where he was arrested for an alleged extortion case involving a waste management company in Noto. In the same year, he was also detained in Villa San Giovanni with a 70-kilogram drug shipment.
