New park dedicated to Judge Livatino born along the road to Caltanissetta in Agrigento.

Explained in brief:
Along the state road 640 Agrigento-Caltanissetta, known as the Strada degli Scrittori, in Gasena district, in the territory of the Municipality of Agrigento, the Livatino Park was inaugurated, dedicated to the young judge victim of the mafia. The area, about 4,500 square meters, was granted by Anas for a period of 10 years to Conalpa, a non-profit organization that, with the help of numerous volunteers, planted about 800 shrubs to beautify and adorn the new park. Each new plant that will grow will be dedicated to an innocent victim of mafia attacks.
Already in the mid-1990s, Anas authorized the placement of a commemorative stele at the site of Judge Rosario Livatino’s martyrdom, so that his sacrifice in the daily fight against the mafia would not be forgotten. The stele was vandalized in July 2017 but was rebuilt and returned to the community two months later, thanks to the commitment of Anas.
At the inauguration ceremony of the Park, the judge Livatino’s blood-soaked shirt worn on the morning he lost his life to the gunshot of Cosa Nostra killers was displayed. The event was attended by the vice-prefect of Agrigento Massimo Signorelli, the archbishop of Agrigento, Monsignor Alessandro Damiano, the mayor of Agrigento Francesco Miccichè, the director of the Anas territorial structure in Sicily, Raffaele Celia, the police chief of Agrigento Tommaso Palumbo, and several local representatives of public security forces.
