New Emergency Center at the Policlinico di Palermo – video. The specialist clinic will be equipped with the emergency hospital complex.
It is an emergency room, intensive care, operating rooms and hemodynamics that will complete the structure of the University.
All this thanks to the intervention initiated by the president of the Sicilian Region Nello Musumeci, as delegate commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency.
The inspection of Musumeci
This morning, president Nello Musumeci and regional councilor for health Ruggero Razza, the rector of the University of Palermo Fabrizio Micari,
the extraordinary commissioner of the Policlinico Alessandro Caltagirone and,
the implementing body of the plan to strengthen the Sicilian hospital network Salvatore D’Urso,
they carried out an inspection of the site, the works of which are proceeding in record time and will be completed in June.
Seven hundred new intensive care places.
On the sidelines of the visit, Musumeci says:
“With the delivery of the emergency complex we will fill a historical structural deficiency of the Palermo Polyclinic which,
it will be able to align itself with the main national hospital complexes, enhancing the University’s professionalism and potential ».
Adds the head of the regional council:
“The plan to strengthen the Sicilian health facilities is proceeding rapidly and our goal is to give Sicily 700 new intensive care places,
reconfiguring 27 emergency rooms that will be equipped with separate paths for suspected Covid patients ».
Sicilian hospital network redeveloped.
Sicily is still the first region of Italy in the advancement of the hospital network requalification program.
The latter reaches a real activation index of 30% of the 79 planned construction sites.
The works of the emergency complex of the Polyclinic are carried out with two different contracts of 3.145 and 1.379 million euros.
The amount committed is part of the 240 million euro spending plan.
Implemented by the commissioner structure led about a month ago by Arcuri and,
replaced by General Francesco Figliuolo, co-financed by the regional health department.
The start of the works for the management structure, entrusted to Salvatore D’Urso and dates back to 15 October 2020.
President Musumeci with reference to the possibility of producing vaccines in Sicily,
has nominated the production site Island, with a letter to the Minister for Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti.
