Nations League pays tribute to Totò Schillaci before Italy-Belgium

The Olympic Stadium, just a few minutes before the kick-off of Italy-Belgium, paid tribute to Totò Schillaci three weeks after his passing. After an introduction by actor Luca Ward, a video dedicated to the national hero was broadcast on the stadium’s big screen, highlighting the four goals he scored in Rome during the 1990 World Cup. Ward recited, “Totò Schillaci will always remain in our hearts, he made all of Italy dream with his overwhelming celebrations. He is a symbol of a nation that never gives up.” The tribute also included the song “Notti magiche,” light displays, and large screens with the words “Ciao Totò.” National team coach Luciano Spalletti also spoke about the former forward, describing his passionate and determined playing style.
