Mussolini deemed unworthy: Capaci Municipality revokes citizenship from duce

The City Council of Capaci unanimously revoked the honorary citizenship of Benito Mussolini, granted in 1924, citing his responsibility in the suppression of social, civil, and political freedoms, deportation of Italians to concentration camps, expansionist and colonialist policies in Africa, and the assassination of socialist deputy Giacomo Matteotti. They also granted honorary citizenship to entrepreneur Carlo Feltrinelli for his contributions to the community. Mayor Pietro Puccio expressed satisfaction with both decisions, emphasizing the town’s commitment to the principles of the republican and anti-fascist Constitution, such as freedom of expression and justice.
