Municipal elections: FdI leaves current mayor Arcidiacono in Monreale and chooses Macaluso, party splits

Fratelli d’Italia, ahead of the upcoming municipal elections in the Municipality of Monreale, has decided not to support the re-election of outgoing mayor Alberto Arcidiacono: the FdI candidate will be the chartered accountant Natale Macaluso. The party stated that Arcidiacono failed to guarantee a broad coalition including the main center-right party, and therefore FdI will support Macaluso’s candidacy. This decision has caused division within the party in the town. Regional deputy Marco Intravaia announced his self-suspension from FdI and joining the mixed group. FdI aims to offer the citizens of Monreale a qualified and respected professional like Macaluso for a competent and honest administration.
